This give list provides a range of not-for-profit organisations working to support people affected by the hunger crisis in Sudan.
Sudan has been grappling with violence and displacement since the onset of the Darfur crisis in 2003. Since the escalation of conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April 2023, Sudan’s internally displaced refugee population has risen from 1 million to 8.6 million.
This crisis has exacerbated many of Sudan’s existing challenges -including ongoing conflicts, disease outbreaks, economic and political instability and climate emergencies.
A range of charitable organisations are responding to Sudan’s extreme levels of humanitarian need. Sudan was already experiencing its highest levels of humanitarian need in a decade. Support being delivered includes food, shelter, safety and healthcare.
While the entities listed below are all known to APS, we do not conduct a detailed analysis of their financial position and governance ahead of their inclusion in this list. All charities’ audited financials are available to view on the ACNC website.
Please note, this is not an exhaustive list of the not-for-profit organisations working in this space.
As with all emergency appeals, should a donation be received and not be needed in Sudan, the charity will apply it to similar situations around the world.
