APS Foundation is the fastest growing public ancillary fund in Australia
We are pleased to release the latest investment reports for our public ancillary fund, the Australian Philanthropic Services (APS) Foundation. It is the fastest-growing public ancillary fund in Australia and now comprises more than 600 giving funds, totalling over $350 million.
Last financial year, we helped our giving fund holders give nearly $20 million to charity. For the same period, our General portfolio delivered a 10.2% investment return, allowing our clients to not only make a significant impact now but also grow the balance of their giving funds for future giving. This is the power of the “give and grow” approach of structured giving and the APS Foundation.
The Foundation has delivered strong investment returns for FY 2024 across its two investment portfolios, both invested in line with the one investment strategy.
- The General Portfolio, managed by Chris Cuffe, was established in 2012 and is well-diversified across the full investment spectrum. The performance of the General Portfolio was 10.2% for the year ended 30 June 2024 and 10.1% p.a. since inception in July 2012, which is significantly ahead of its target return.
- The Focused Portfolio, managed by David Wright, co-founder and CEO of Zenith Investment Partners, was established in June 2022 and has a responsible investing focus. The portfolio has been fully invested since October 2022, producing a positive return of 9.1% p.a to 30 June 2024.
Rachael Rofe, Head of the APS Foundation, expressed her gratitude and congratulations to the portfolio managers, investment committee, and underlying managers for their efforts in achieving a return that empowers clients to ” give and grow” their philanthropic capital for the benefit of the community.
“We are especially thankful to the investment managers who offer their services at low or pro bono rates,” Rachael noted. “For the year ended 30 June 2024, the value of these fee reductions exceeded $1 million, which has made a significant contribution to both the performance of the APS Foundation and the giving fund balances of our clients.”
