Celebrating Our 1000th Client: A Milestone for Giving in Australia
At Australian Philanthropic Services (APS), we’ve always believed that giving is more than a financial decision – it’s a deeply personal, transformative journey. This month, we’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone: welcoming our 1000th client.
This isn’t just a number. It’s a reflection of a growing movement in Australia – families and individuals embracing structured giving to make a lasting impact. Since APS was founded in 2012, our clients have gifted over $1.3 billion to charity, with more than $235 million gifted in the last financial year alone. That’s generosity in action.
But this moment belongs to our clients. Their stories inspire us every day.
Client Voices: Why They Give
Greg Roodt joined APS recently after a share divestment gave his family the opportunity to give back. What started as a financial decision quickly became a family tradition.
“My partner and I hope it sets a good example for our two young boys and shows them we can all help to make the world a better place,” Greg shared. “It’s been more rewarding than we expected, both for our family and the causes we support.”
Together, they sit down as a family to choose charities that reflect their values – teaching their children that even small actions can make a big difference.

Geoff Day, one of APS’s very first clients, discovered structured giving through a magazine article in 2011. That spark led to the creation of a family foundation that’s now a cornerstone of their legacy.
“Social capital is scarce. Every dollar is a dollar that I want to have an impact,” Geoff said. “Now we have something more valuable than money to pass onto our children – a legacy they can remember their mother and father through.”
Geoff’s story is a powerful reminder that philanthropy isn’t just about giving – it’s about meaning, purpose, and connection.

The Mostyn family have been giving through their PAF since 2011. Over the years, they’ve donated to causes ranging from medical research to mental health and the arts.
“Our children are very proud of the donations we make and of the many organisations and causes we support,” Amanda Mostyn said. “It really is a rewarding thing for a family to do together.”
The grandchildren of the founder – the late Bob Mostyn – now help oversee medical research grants, gaining financial literacy and a deep understanding of philanthropy along the way.

A Tipping Point for Philanthropy
APS founder and chairman Chris Cuffe sees this milestone as a sign of something bigger.
“Welcoming our 1000th client feels like a moment to reflect on what APS has achieved and where philanthropy is heading,” Chris said. “Philanthropy offers immediate tax benefits, but more importantly, it allows families to embed their values into their wealth strategy and pass on a legacy of purpose.”
With more Australians turning to structured giving, APS continues to make it simple, effective, and deeply rewarding – whether through a private ancillary fund or a named giving fund in the APS Foundation.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this milestone, we’re reminded that philanthropy is not just about numbers – it’s about people, families, and communities coming together to create lasting change.
The stories of Greg, Geoff, Amanda and Richard and so many others show us that giving is deeply personal, incredibly impactful, and often transformative. Whether you’re just starting out or have been giving for years, your journey matters – and it’s shaping the future of philanthropy in Australia.
To our clients: Thank You! Your trust, generosity and vision are transforming communities and inspiring the next generation of givers.
At APS, we’re excited to continue walking alongside our clients, helping them turn generosity into action and values into legacy.
We look forward to the next chapter – more stories, more impact, and more Australians discovering the joy of giving.
