Adviser, Governance & Giving
Frances has been working with Australian Philanthropic Services (APS) since its beginning. She has a background in corporations law and company secretarial services with a BA/LLB from UNSW and an LLM from the University of London.
The world of philanthropy opened for Frances when she was appointed Company Secretary at Social Ventures Australia (SVA) in 2007. At SVA she worked with people who were passionate about driving social change at both the local and systems level. She was also introduced to venture philanthropy, social enterprises and impact investment, and saw the creation of GoodStart Early Learning, the social enterprise early learning provider, and the inception of APS as a division of SVA.
Frances has been working as an Adviser, Governance and Giving since early 2011 and has seen how philanthropy can operate in many different ways and have great impact. Each APS client has a unique perspective on how best to assist those who need extra support. Frances is passionate about ensuring that her clients’ values and experiences inform their giving, and help their chosen organisations to achieve change in the community.
