Give List: Bondi beach attack | Community & mental health support – Dec 2025
This document contains a list of Australian charities with DGR-1 status working to support the Jewish and broader community, some of which are directly fundraising to aid those affected by the Bondi Beach attack on Sunday 14 December 2025. The brief outlines of the organisations include details of their work to support the victims, the community, and charities which promote cross cultural understanding and tolerance. If donating to any of these organisations, please ensure you specify the purpose of your donation directly to the charity. Australian Philanthropic Services will continue to liaise with charities to monitor any changes in fundraising appeals or organisations working in this area.
While the entities listed below are all known to APS, we do not conduct a detailed analysis of their financial position and governance ahead of their inclusion in this list. All charities’ audited financials are available to view on the ACNC website. This is not an exhaustive list of the not-for-profit organisations working in this space.
Community Support
Australian Red Cross | Lifeblood
Lifeblood have sent blood from other states to support the need in Sydney, but the need for blood is ongoing and a booking can be made to donate blood via their website. The work of Lifeblood can be supported with a gift payment to Australian Red Cross, but please nominate your gift to be directed to Lifeblood to ensure it is applied as intended.
B’nai B’rith Courage to Care (NSW)
Courage to Care NSW is an educational non-profit organisation that provides school programs and public exhibitions designed to combat discrimination and inspire Upstander behaviour.
From school classrooms to community spaces and beyond, taking inspiration from real-life extraordinary acts of courage, their Upstander Programs inspire people to make a real difference in their community by standing up and taking action, creating real change. They provide a space for people to unpack discrimination and to gain the tools, knowledge and confidence to respond to it safely.
Chevra Hatzolah Sydney
Hatzolah work to provide a lifesaving bridge of medical care during the first critical moments of a medical emergency before the arrival of an ambulance, whilst catering to the unique needs of the Jewish Community. They provide comfort to the patient and their family and prevent additional injury or further deterioration of the patient’s health. The closest Emergency Departments to the Hatzolah response area are:
- Prince of Wales Hospital
- Sydney Children’s Hospital
- St Vincent’s Hospital
- Sydney & Sydney Eye Hospital
Community Health Support (CHS)
CHS assists the community in a medical emergency through an emergency first response and advice service, training and consulting services. CHS provides:
- a 24/7 hotline to call for advice, assistance or emergency care – resourced by a network of doctors, nurses, paramedics and advanced first responders
- nationally accredited first aid and CPR courses, and no-cost community awareness courses
- a medical team on standby ready to look after attendees at community events
- advice and consulting on medical processes, procedures and equipment
Council for Jewish Community Security (CJCS)
CJCS have a visible presence at Synagogues, Jewish events and institutions. Their highly trained volunteers and operational support staff provide on-site security for the safety of the community. Their services also include crisis management for the Jewish Community in NSW.
Jewish Care (NSW)
JewishCare has been the major service provider for vulnerable members of the community for over 85 years. JewishCare’s individual and family support assist people who are in vulnerable situations, with a professional, non-judgmental and client-centred approach.

- in-home support
- youth services
- assistance & advocacy
- specialist support referrals
Jewish House
Through comprehensive programs and hands-on guidance, Jewish House assist people in finding effective solutions while they work to prevent and overcome personal crisis events, working collaboratively with individuals, their caregivers, and other service providers. Jewish House collaborate with governments and partners, and some of their services include:
- 24/7 crisis line
- Accommodation
- Counselling
- Chaplaincy
- Antisemitism support

The Trustee for Chabad House Crisis Centre
Chabad NSW has played an integral role in the establishment of essential community organisations such as the NSW Kashrut Authority and the Jewish House Crisis Centre. They play important roles in the Rabbinical Council of NSW and the Sydney Beth Din (religious court), serve as chaplains within the broader community, including the NSW Ambulance Service, Police, Corrective Services and State Emergency Services. Chabad Rabbi Eli Schlanger was killed at Bondi Beach.
The Dor Foundation | in conjunction with JCA & AJF
The Dor Foundation supports initiatives to build tolerance, understanding and enhance social cohesion, empowering all Australians to stand against antisemitism and hate. At this unprecedented time, Jewish Communal Appeal (JCA), The Dor Foundation and Australian Jewish Funders (AJF) are working together to enable a coordinated communal response, and an emergency fund has been established. Please ensure you specify the Emergency Relief Fund as the purpose of your gift payment directly to The Dor Foundation.
This fund is to support priority needs including mental health, crisis assistance, medical care, rehabilitation and urgent financial support.

The Trustee for ECAJ Harm Prevention Fund
ECAJ represent the interests of the Australian Jewish community to the Federal government, to parliamentary inquiries, to national law enforcement agencies, the national media and in regular dialogues with other ethnic and faith communities.

Together for Humanity Foundation
Together For Humanity is an inclusive, not-for-profit educational organisation that works with school communities to combat prejudice and advance belonging and inclusion; working for an Australia free from racism and prejudice where every young person feels they belong. They work with students and school communities to combat prejudice and advance belonging, racial tolerance and social cohesion.

Wolper Jewish Hospital is a specialist medical and rehabilitation hospital located in Woollahra.
Mental Health Support
Beyond Blue
Beyond Blue works to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in Australia through the provision of information and support online and via dedicated programs for families, schools, workplaces and community organisations. Apart from supports and services, the organisation attempts to tackle the stigma associated with mental ill-health that can reduce or prevent help-seeking and undertakes advocacy for consumers and those with lived experience of anxiety, depression and suicide risk. Beyond Blue also provides education to the aged care and childcare sectors on detecting symptoms of mental health issues and increasing resilience among older people and children aged 0-12, and runs a website for families, healthyfamilies.org.au.
This is a large entity that is in a unique position to draw together multiple players and resources at a national scale, with industry credibility as reliable project managers and political clout to be able to effect change at the system level.

Blue Knot Foundation
Blue Knot provides information and support for anyone who is affected by complex trauma. Complex trauma including repeated, ongoing, and often extreme interpersonal trauma (between people) – violence, abuse, neglect or exploitation experienced as a child, young person and adult. Blue knot does this via Helpline and redress services, National Counselling and referral services supporting the disability royal commission. Trauma counselling in Correctional Centers, professional training and practice and survivor and supporter workshops.
Kidsxpress
Kidsxpress provides trauma focused programs to help children, caregivers and professionals transform the impact of childhood trauma into a life full of hope and a future our children deserve. It was established in 2005 to address the lack of services available to support children living with the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Through the delivery of trauma-focused therapy and education, KidsXpress provides mental health support for children aged four onwards.
Kids Helpline (Yourtown)
Kids Helpline is a confidential 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25. Since 1991, Kids Helpline’s specialised counsellors have responded to over 8 million contacts, offering practical help and emotional support to children and young people at critical moments in their lives.

Lifeline Australia (incl text service)
Lifeline Australia is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. As well as their traditional phone counselling service, they operate a text service (0477 13 11 14) where counsellors will conduct a text conversation with an individual. This service is particularly popular amongst younger people.
Reachout Australia
ReachOut was the world’s first online youth mental health support website, launched in 1998. It is a great first entry point for young people who are seeking answers to mental health, everyday concerns and including topics such as trauma, cultural identity, anxiety, anger, sadness, grief and loss. It provides an opportunity to explore issues (possibly for the first time) in an anonymous, online space that’s available 24/7. All content and services it creates are based on the latest evidence and co-designed by mental health experts, young people and/or their parents. ReachOut aims to support all young people – regardless of their mental health status – to increase resilience and coping skills; young people in need of help. It also runs programs for parents and professionals who work with young people.
